While the word tunic comes from the Latin tunica, the tunic was not invented by the Romans. Examples of garments that cover the torso and the top of the legs, with sleeves and side seams, can be found in ancient art from South America to South East Asia and are worn worldwide today.

This easy-sew tunic sewing pattern features a handkerchief hem, side vents, and dolman, three-quarter length sleeves. The fit is roomy and loose, making a comfortable and stylish piece to wear over leggings or jeans.

The high neckline is closed in the back with a hook-and-eye at the slit.  Gorgeous in silk for a dressy look or perfect in a rumpled linen, this tunic can be an everyday piece to wear again and again.

Suggested fabrics:  Light-weight fabric with some drape; linen, rayon, silk, cotton batiste, voile, velvet.
